The Chisinau municipality is considering the possibility of merging the National Wine Day and the City’s Day, IPN reports.

In the October 7 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, the head of the Foreign Relations and European Integration Division Gabriela Ciumac said the wine holiday does not have a carefully planned strategy. The wine companies make effort to stage a nice event, but do not have a plan for a cultural event.

According to Gabriela Ciumac, there should be organized workshops on how the wine is served, in what kind of glasses and other manners in the field. This festival should be an educative event rather than a drinking bout in the Great National Assembly Square.

Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca supported partially the proposal to merge the two holidays. He said the wine festival should be better transformed into a longer event with a well thought out cultural program.
