New interpretation and new video for “Radu mamii”

Young singer Victor Bondari Wednesday launched a video for his own interpretation of the folk song “Radu mamii”, Info-Prim Neo reports. Victor is a fourth-year student of the Academy of Music and Plastic Arts. The idea of singing the song came to his mind when he was a student at “Stefan Neaga” High School. ”I wanted the video to have epoch images without modern technology. Thus I borrowed national clothes and weapons that are original from museums,” Oleg Botnaru, director and producer of the video, told a news conference. The video involves ten actors who are students of the Academy of Music and Plastic Arts and the people’s artist Margareta Nazarkevich, in the role of the mother. The singer’s father and brother also appear in the video. The first part of the video was filmed in the native village of the singer – Crocmaz, which is situated on the bank of the Nistru – while the second part – in a bar in Chisinau. Shooting took place between 11mp and 6am so as not to intimidate the bar’s visitors. “Filming lasted for about three days. Victor made effort and contributed a lot,” said Oleg Botnaru. “I think this video helps the young people to understand the sublime beauty of the folk song,” said artist Margareta Nazarkevich. Victor Bondari has another three videos that haven’t’ been launched and an album recorded at a studio in Chisinau. He also has a CD with carols. The singer plans to launch by a video every season of the year.
