New local mayoral elections took place in Ochiul Ros village of Anenii Noi district and in Sarata-Galbena village of Hancesti district on May 15. According to the preliminary results, in Ochiul Ros the mayor was elected, while in Sarata-Galbena there will be held the second round of voting, IPN reports.

According to the Central Election Commission, the elections in Ochiul Ros were won by Maria Ostapenco, of the Party of Socialists. The preliminary results show that this won 124 votes. The turnout of was 236 voters.

Two candidates will compete in the second round in Sarata-Galbena. These are the candidate of the Democratic Party Mihail Lozovoi, who polled 996 votes, and the candidate of the Liberal Party Valeriu Taras, who gained 918 votes. More than 2,000 of the over 4,500 voters took part in the elections in Sarata-Galbena.

Over 137,000 lei was allocated for organizing and holding the elections in the two villages.

The term in office of the mayor of Sarata-Galbena ended before time owing to the incompatibility of the post of mayor with that of the seat of MP. The mayor of Ochiul Ros resigned for health reasons.
