New rise in gas charges could be the last this year

The request to increase the gas charges for end-users made by Moldovagaz was discussed at a public meeting of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) on April 16. The Agency's director Victor Parlicov said the new rise could be the last this year, though the tariffs can be adjusted quarterly, Info-Prim Neo reports. A final decision on the new gas charge will be made at the April 25 meeting of the ANRE. According to Victor Parlicov, the rise might be of 14%, which is less than Moldovagaz asked initially. The supplier requested a charge that would have brought it an extra 100 million lei. The ANRE considers that Moldovagaz can remove this sum from the calculations. SA Moldovagaz asked that the ANRE increase the gas charges for end-users following the 10% rise in the selling price of the Russian gas from April 1. The last time, the Agency adjusted the charges for the Moldovan consumers on January 19, when the average tariff was raised to 3,542 lei/1,000 m3 (without the VAT of 6%).
