New signal to be added to traffic lights
An additional signal displaying a green arrow on a black background pointing to the right will be installed at the level of the red signal on the standard three-light semaphore, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Interior Minister Alexei Roibu said the new signal will allow drivers to continue moving in the direction pointed by the arrow on the red light, from the right-most lane, but only after stopping.
Amendments to the Traffic Regulations to this effect were approved by the Government on Friday, November 11.
Drivers following the arrow signal must not create obstacles to other participants in the traffic, must not endanger pedestrians crossing the road or drivers moving on the green light.
According to the minister, the new signal will help to avoid traffic jams, in particular at intersections.
