The public organizations “Hyde Park” and “Orasul Meu Drag” (“My Dear City”) staged a protest against the construction erected near the Armenian Church, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration warns that an illegal building site was set up on April 11near the protection area of the “Birth of God’s Mother” Church of the Armenian community, situated at 8 Piata Veche St. The church is considered a national architectural monument. Old constructions of archeological value were discovered in the perimeter of the building site. The Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration demanded coordinating these works with representatives of the Archeological Commission and the Culture Ministry’s National Council for the Protection of Historical Monuments. Oleg Brega, a member of “Hyde Park”, has told Info-Prim Neo that the construction works were extended illegally by the developer. If the authorities do not react, protests will be mounted at the Culture Ministry and the Prosecutor General’s Office.
