NGOs will provide services for money to electoral contenders

The noncommercial organizations will be able to provide services for money to electoral contenders during the election campaign, as a bill that was given a final reading and was adopted by Parliament provides, IPN reports.

The current law says that “during the election campaign, the noncommercial organization cannot provide services, cannot financially or gratis support electoral contenders and cannot campaign”. The Constitutional Court ascertained differentiated treatment towards noncommercial organizations and commercial organizations as the ban on providing services for money during the election campaign applies to noncommercial organizations only.

The Court held that the ban unjustifiably and discriminatory infringes on the ownership right of noncommercial organizations, in breach of the constitutional provisions.
