The deadline for applying for the post of governor of the National Bank of Moldova expired. Nine applicants will thus compete for the post. These will be examined and interviewed by the special commission for selecting the candidate for governor, IPN reports.

The registered candidates are: Roman Chernyshev, Vadim Branzan, Sergiu Cioclea, Serghei Melnik, Valeriu Chitan, Victor Timotin, Gheorghe Dimitrov, Sergiu Iachim, and Vladimir Munteanu. Sergiu Iachim also took part in the similar contest held last autumn, which failed to produce a candidate.

Head of Parliament Andrian Candu convoked the special commission for February 23 to examine applicants’ files. The hour and place of the meeting will be announced later.
