On the third day of protest, the number of tents put up in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau has doubled. There were set up a medical unit and a food unit. The people continue to bring food products and blankets, saying this way they express their solidarity with the protesters as they cannot stay in the Square nonstop themselves, IPN reports.
In the evening of the first day of protest, the organizers said there are over 80 tents there. Now their number rose to over 170. “The wish to change the state of affairs mobilized and made sensitive all the people. We make common cause. The number of tents has doubled so far. We all want that change so as to get rid of the oligarchic regime. We are not slaves and do not want to contribute to the enrichment of particular persons. We want to live in a state with the rule of law and want a future at home,” said Inga Grigoriu, a member of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth”.
Protester Valentina Taraseivich said that she stayed yesterday during the day and until midnight, but could not stay overnight. She returned in the morning and would stay for the night too, but her age prevents her from doing this. The woman joined in the protest because she wants a better future for the children and grandchildren and because she is tired of officials’ lies.
Another protester Sergiu Torcoman noted that they all intend to remain in the Square until they obtain the resignation of the current government. The protesters didn’t sleep during the night. They discussed between them. It was cold, but the civic spirit helped them resist.
Nistru War veteran Nicolae Besedovschi said that the night was quiet and the protesters are peaceful, while the combatants make sure that there are no provocations. The current administration should leave voluntarily and should accept the people’s will.
The participants in the September 6 demonstration staged by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” in the Great National Assembly Square decided to protest nonstop and pitched tents in the Square.
