Octavian Ghibu Square houses drawing contest

The National Museum of Arts of Moldova is holding a drawing contest themed “Traveling Around the World” as part of the fourth Night of the Museum on Saturday. The event takes place in Octavian Ghibu Square in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to organizers, the idea was borrowed from British colleagues and adapted to the conditions of the museum. Those that want to take part in the contest are provided with all the necessary supplies. “We want to offer the people the possibility of expressing their feelings, using their imagination,” said Svetlana Pociumban, vice director of the National Museum of Arts. A graffiti festival will be held as part of the contest, organized in cooperation with the Association of Young Plastic Artists “Oberliht”. The participants will paint graffiti on the fence that separates the building site at the museum from the roadway. “The drawings made during the contest will be stored in the museum’s archive. This way, we will diversify the range of objects kept at the museum,” Svetlana Pociumban said. The Night of the Museum is a Council of Europe initiative supported by the International Council of Museums.
