One tonne of liquor without certificates of quality and other required papers was found in the garage of a Chisinau man, 43. The liquor, estimated at 25,000 lei, was supposed to reach marketplaces in Chisinau.

According to police preliminary information, the liquor was smuggled from the Transnistrian region. The goods were seized until a court decides what to do with them.

After being fined 3,000 lei, the man now also faces criminal charges of unauthorized trade.

The police are reminding the public to buy alcoholic beverages only in authorized stores.
