Organ Hall dome to be restored by yearend

The works to repair the dome of the Organ Hall that started in June will continue until the end of this year. The institution's director Larisa Zubcu told Info-Prim Neo they plan to replace the entire piping system in the future. According to Larisa Zubcu, the foundations have been reinforced and the rood repaired. A sum of 2 million lei was allocated for restoring the dome, but more money will be needed for reconstruction next year. The Organ Hall will not be closed for the period of repairs. “The season has opened and we have planned many events. The Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” is to be inaugurated on September 29 and a concert will be held at the Organ Hall on this occasion,” Larisa Zubcu said. Earlier, the main consultant of the Ministry of Culture Sergiu Cherdivara stated for Info-Prim Neo that 25 million lei is needed to renovate the Organ Hall that is over 100 years old. It hasn’t been extensively repaired since 1976. The Organ Hall was built in 1901 in a classical style with elements of Romanticism by architect Seidevan under the guidance of engineer Mihail Cekeruli-Kus and in cooperation with Alexander Bernardarzzi
