The Office of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities is ready to offer the Moldovan authorities assistance in dealing with the problems faced by the Moldovan-administered Latin-script schools in Transnistria, High Commissioner Astrid Thors said in a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Valeriu Chiveri on July 7, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry’s press service, the officials discussed the areas of cooperation between Moldova and the Office of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities.
Valeriu Chiveri reiterated the necessity of avoiding unilateral actions that can affect the work of the education institutions. He said the time is now opportune for working out the regulations concerning the functioning of these schools in Transnistria, which will ensure continuity of the education process.
The Moldovan official also underlined the necessity of maintaining the continuous dialogue so as to identify solutions to the problems faced by these schools.
For his part, Astrid Thors said the Office of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities is disposed to further provide assistance to the Moldova authorities in solving the given problems.
