Four outdoor advertisers, members of the Advertisement Agencies’ Association, will sue the City Hall and demand damages for the removal of advertisements from Dacia Avenue, Info-Prim Neo reports. AAPM members told the press that the lack of response from the Municipality regarding proposals to settle the issue amiably made them go to court. Lawyer Igor Filip, who defends the four ad agencies in court, requested the cancelation of the Mayor’s ordinance of May 25. “According to article 177 of the Civil Proceedings Code, the court is obliged to rule on this request the same day it was presented. However, neither the Court of Appeal, nor other official bodies did anything”, said the lawyer. Igor Filip informed that the removal of advertisements started on June 12. The billboards were taken to an unknown place. On June 13, the same group of companies complained to the chairman of the Court of Appeal. After three weeks, the first court hearing was scheduled for July 2, but no decision was taken. Advertisers claim they have reasons to believe the judges aren’t impartial. The Mayor ordered the removal of billboards placed along the road between the City Gates and the Airport until June 1. If the advertisers refused to do it, the billboards would be removed forcibly by the City Hall. The Mayor’s ordinance comes after the Parliament adopted an amendment to the Road Law in July 2011, forbidding the installation of billboards at a distance less than 6 meters from the road, in the vicinity of road junctions, bridges, separation lanes, trestles, viaducts and road barriers.
