Over 100 minibuses no longer work on routes in Chisinau
More than 100 minibuses stopped running on routes in the municipality of Chisinau, according to the data presented to the General Public Transport and Communications Division. The Division’s head Adrian Boldurescu Monday said that according to unofficial reports, the number of minibuses that no longer work is much higher, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Adrian Boldurescu said that two routes are expected to stop work in the near future. These are route No. 161, which has only two minibuses, and route No. 185, along which eight units of transport run.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the minibuses should disappear from the routes that overlap the routes of buses and trolleybuses. They should be redirected to the suburban settlements that do not have minibus routes, including Bubuieci and Ciorescu, even if this will create problems to the Urban Bus Company.
Over 1,800 minibuses run on routes on the streets of Chisinau at present.
