About 20 apartments were affected in the explosion that happened in an apartment building located on Trandafirilor St in Cantemir town in the morning of May 4. The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service said over 30 persons living in this block are to be lodged in the building of the local Lyceum “Mihai Eminescu”, IPN reports.

According to the latest reports, three persons were hurt in the blast. A man aged 23 sustained burns on 95% of the body, a woman of 55 suffered contusions, while a teenage girl of 16 suffered rib fractures. The last two victims are in a medium severity condition.

The blast occurred in a fourth-floor apartment. As a result of the explosion, three apartments situated on the third, fourth and fifth floors started to burn, while the ceiling of a third-floor apartment collapsed. A local commission for emergencies was set up to assess the damage caused by the blast.
