Over 2,400 police officers to provide security during Patriarch visit

Over 2,400 police officers will be involved in maintaining public order and providing security during the visit of Russian Patriarch Kirill to Chisinau on October 8-10, Info-Prim Neo reports. The visit will entail brief traffic restrictions along the Patriarch's routes and motorists will be asked to refrain from parking their cars in some parts of the city. If the crowd of people who will come to greet the Patriarch at the Metropolitan Cathedral is too large, the police will also close the adjacent Great Assembly Square for vehicle traffic. During the religious service officiated by the Patriarch in the Cathedral's square, the police will use portable metal detectors. Inebriated persons or those bearing arms will not be allowed to attend. In addition to a security fence, the police will also form a cordon around the stage where the Patriarch will appear before the crowd. Additional measures include identification of the persons who possess firearms or who are inclined to violence and who live along the delegation's routes.
