Pensions will be increased if they are under 1,300 lei after they are raised by 6.75% on April 1. The pensions of the participants in the Chernobyl cleanup will grow by 10.4%, while of servicemen and employees of the Ministry of the Interior by 8.25%. A bill to this effect was unanimously passed by Parliament in two readings, IPN reports.

The other categories of persons with pensions lower than 1,300lei will receive a bonus of 90 lei if they contributed to the social insurance fund for 30 years. The pensioners with an incomplete length of service will receive a bonus of 50 lei.

Acting Deputy Minister of Finance MariaCaraus said the pensions will be increased from the savings made after eliminating nominal compensations of 450millionlei.

Acting Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family ValentinaBuliga said the pensioners will receive pensions raised by 6.75% until April25, while from May 1 will benefit from these increases.

Financial support of 50, 60 and 90 lei will also be provided to persons with disabilities, depending on the severity of the disability.
