Parliament will have digital archive and library

The achieve and library of Parliament will be digitized and the paper documents will be scanned and stored digitally, IPN reports, quoting the legislative body’s press service.

According to the concept, there will be digitized the draft laws, shorthand reports of the Parliament’s sittings and minutes of standing commissions’ meetings, comparative law studies, analytical materials, reports, internal documents of the legislature’s subdivisions, etc. These will be stored on an electronic institutional storage platform that will be available online.

In the course of last December, the international expert and functionaries of the Parliament’s Secretariat had a series of discussions to assess the situation. Visits were made to the National Archive of Moldova and to three of the seven national higher education establishments that possess digital archives.

The Parliament’s archive contains over 2,000 files. A file consists of about 300 pages. The Parliament’s library includes approximately 5,000 books and 120 periodicals.

The legislative body’s archive and library will be digitized within the project “Concept on Digital Archive of the Parliament of Moldova” that is implemented with support from UNDP Moldova.
