Parliamentary platform for fighting human trafficking meets

The national legislation on the protection of victims of human trafficking is to be improved. A number of proposals in this regard were discussed in the October 18 meeting of the parliamentary platform for fighting trafficking in human beings that was chaired by Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu, IPN reports.

After the meeting, Andrian Candu told the press that the proposals refer to the protection of witnesses and victims of trafficking in persons. Privileges would be instituted for employers who would hire victims of human trafficking.

The Speaker noted it was a very good start of discussions on a parliamentary platform and these will be continued. As a result, the communication on the steps taken by the parliamentary platform will be improved, including with the public and the press.

It should be noted that Moldova has marked the EU Anti-Trafficking Day on October 18 since 2012.
