Pensions to be raised by 7.95% this year

The pensions will be increased by 7.95% on April 1 this year. The indexation is envisioned in a draft Government decision proposed by the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family for public debates, IPN reports.

The indexation percentage was calculated taking into account the 10.8% rise in the official average salary in 2014 and the 5.1% increase in the consumer price index for last year, compared with 2013.

After the indexation, the old-age pension will rise by 88.62 lei on average, the invalidity pensions by 69.61 lei, while the successor’s pension by 44.79 lei. The pensions of those who took part in the Chernobyl cleanup will be by 187.9 lei higher. The allocation offered to the participants in the Chernobyl cleanup and to other beneficiaries for purchasing the food needed to eliminate radionuclides from the body will be increased by 5.1%.

Only the part of the pension paid from the state social insurance budget to former MPs, members of the Government, public servants and local elected officials, prosecutors and customs employees will be raised.

On April 1, 2015, the old-age pension for people working in agriculture will be 767.2 lei, while for the other recipients of such a pension – 861 lei. The disability pension will be 613 lei for the first degree, 592 lei for the second degree and 416 lei for the third degree.
