The emotions of the Moldovan athletes that participated in this summer’s Olympics will be displayed in the photo exhibition “London 2012: Olympic Emotions”, which opened on Tuesday in Stephen the Great and the Holy Square, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The photographs were taken by Boris Harcenco, Sergei Donet, Nicolae Buceatchi and Serghei Ursatii.
Head of the National Olympic Committee Nicole Juravschi thinks this year’s Olympics were special, as Moldova’s 20 athletes obtained two medals and 7 top ten places.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat attended the opening of the exhibition and declared himself proud of the Moldovan team’s performances in London. “I was honored to be in the middle of preparation for the Games and to attend the opening ceremony. It will be an honor for me to continue to participate in the development of sport in Moldova. Only through sport and tolerance we’ll solve our problems and build a nice image of the country”, he said.
Attending the event, UK Ambassador to Moldova Keith Shannon noted that the Moldovan athletes impressed at the tournament. “The London Olympics were unrivaled as regards promoting sports and values. Our goal is to maintain the success of the Games. I’m keen to help Moldova to further develop sports”, said the diplomat.
The exhibition will be opened until October 28.
