The property owned by the former Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc abroad, which is estimated at over 160 million lei, will be sequestrated by the authorities of Romania, France and Switzerland. The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) said this will be done after additional evidence was provided and the judges were persuaded that namely Vlad Plahotniuc is the effective beneficiary of that property, IPN reports.
The PGO noted the property includes the villas in Romania, France and Switzerland, five cars and a boat registered in Switzerland. The relevant documents and their translations were sent to the authorities of the three states for being executed.
There will also be sequestrated nine apartments registered in the name of his wife and four cars registered in Moldova.
Earlier in summer, the Chisinau City Court accepted only one of the six requests made by prosecutors, ordering to sequestrate ten buildings estimated at about 33 million lei.
Vlad Plahotniuc’s possessions in Moldova were already sequestrated.
According to the PGO, the culprit was put on the wanted list after the prosecutors charged him on three counts, namely: creation and management of a criminal organization, considerable swindle and money laundering.
