Police catch group of young people trafficking in hashish

The police arrested a group of six people aged between 18 and 31 who were trafficking in hashish. The arrest was made in a supermarket in Chisinau. Two of the suspects left the drugs in a storage box in the store and were to give the key to the buyer, who was a police officer under cover, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on March 15, Vladimir Cioban, head of the Antidrug Division of the National Investigations Inspectorate, said that the police followed the group for two months. For this operation, they outfitted an apartment with audio-video equipment for recording the negotiations held to sell hashish to the policeman under cover. The suspects were caught red-handed after they left drugs to the value of about 170,000 lei in the supermarket. The young men, who are from Chisinau and Ialoveni, are investigated for drug distribution and face 7 to 15 years in jail.
