The head of the People's Assembly in Comrat accuses the authorities in Chisinau of putting pressure on Gagauzia. Dmitry Constantinov expressed indignation at a press conference that many local residents are being summoned to appear before the law enforcement officials to answer whether they received money during the election campaign to vote for a particular candidate, IPN correspondent in Gagauzia.
According to Constantinov, "no resident of Gagauzia has received any money for voting", and the payments are given to them as "additional aid from the Russian Federation fund, which is not illegal".
Sources in the Gagauzia Police Directorate confirmed to IPN the conduct of the documentation actions, "As of Thursday, in Moldova 140,000 people have been documented, targeted in the case for allegedly receiving election money".
The police representatives said that those citizens, who were visited by law enforcement officers, did not respond or were not at home, will receive a summons at their address where they live, indicating the date, time and place where they have to appear, and in case of absence, a report will be drawn up.
