The PAS ruling party of Moldova supports Crin Antonescu, the candidate of the Romania Forward Alliance, in the presidential election in Romania. The announcement was made on Friday by the chairman of the Party of Action and Solidarity Igor Grosu at a news conference, which involved Crin Antonescu and Romanian MEP Siegfried Mureșan, IPN reports.
"On May 4, our unity, of the Bessarabian brothers, is needed again so that we contribute to a European, free and strong Romania. A European, dignified and strong Romania also means a Moldova that is firmly moving towards the future and remains free to choose its path," said Igor Grosu, Speaker of Parliament.
According to him, it is important for the Republic of Moldova to have a resolute advocate of its interests in the President of Romania. "On May 4, dear Bessarabians, let's show the whole world what strength the citizens of the Republic of Moldova have. Let's not allow foreign, extremist forces, which do not love the Republic of Moldova, to divert Romania from the right path, from the path of economic development and peacekeeping," said the PAS leader.
Crin Antonescu said that the presidential election is, in a certain way, common for Romania and for the Republic of Moldova. "A firm pro-Western president, with a base, with stability, with a majority behind him is a guarantee that the relationship between Chisinau and Bucharest will continue," said the candidate of the Romania Forward Alliance.
According to the Romanian politician, the relationship between Romania and the Republic of Moldova in recent years witnessed spectacular progress on the path of Moldova's European integration.
"As a candidate for the Romanian presidency, I see a much broader relationship, an economic, commercial relationship, a relationship that complements everything that has been done so far from political and economic points of view," said Crin Antonescu.
Present at the conference, MEP Siegfried Mureșan said that the objective is to win the upcoming presidential election in Romania with their pro-European candidate so that the Republic of Moldova and Romania can work as closely as possible.
According to Mureșan, the only pro-European candidate who can win the presidential election in Romania is Crin Antonescu, the former chairman of the National Liberal Party, former president of the Romanian Senate, always a close friend of the Republic of Moldova.
"He is our candidate, of the PNL and of the entire governing coalition. He is the candidate who will ensure that all joint projects between Romania and the Republic of Moldova will continue, will be fulfilled and will accelerate as much as possible," noted the Romanian MEP.
"Our request is that all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who also have Romanian citizenship, should be aware of the importance of these elections, come on the day of voting and support the candidate we trust, Mr. Crin Antonescu. It is an essential vote for the European will of the Republic of Moldova," stated Siegfried Mureșan.
