New CSM member elected by the General Assembly of Judges

The Superior Council of the Magistracy (CSM) has a new member, Judge Natalia Bondarenco. She was elected from among the representatives of the appeal courts at today's meeting of the General Assembly of Judges. The SCM is now fully composed, IPN reports.

A total of 268 votes were cast in the election of the new CSM member. 155 were for judge Natalia Bondarenco from the South Court of Appeal, and 113 - for magistrate Eugeniu Beselea from the Center Court of Appeal.

Natalia Bondarenco has been working in the system since 2000. She was appointed by transfer to the Cahul Court of Appeal in July 2007. The judge passed the external evaluation and exercised her right to refuse publication of the Vetting Commission's decision.

The Superior Council of Magistracy has 12 members. Six magistrates are elected by secret ballot by the General Assembly of Judges. There are four judges from the lower courts, one from the appeal courts and one from the Supreme Court of Justice. There are also six non-judges appointed by Parliament.
