The National Patrolling Inspectorate has announced that the White Nights operation will be extended to include the weekdays too, not only the weekend. Such a decision was taken after nine persons died in road accidents during the last 24 hours, IPN reports.

National Patrolling Inspectorate chief Igor Gori told a press briefing that the Inspectorate’s employees, in concert with the local police inspectorates, will launch a campaign to verify the regime of selling alcoholic beverages to minors outside the legal hours. Such a measure is needed given that speeding and DUI lead to widespread loss of life. He referred to last night’s car accident that claimed the lives of eight young people.

Igor Gori offered his condolences to the families of the killed young people, saying last night was a tragic one.
