The General Police Inspectorate has warned the population about a dishonest scheme for making money through phone calls. The offender calls the victim and tells a false story about the called person’s relative who caused a road accident and injured a person and large sums of money are therefore needed to help this person get rid of punishment, IPN reports.

According to the police, 13 such cases were reported in Chisinau so far this year. In these cases, the victims transmitted the requested sums, while two attempts failed as the persons called the police.

The citizens are urged to analyze and verify the information they receive so as not to become scam victims. Those who experienced such a case are encouraged to report it immediately to the police.
