Premier criticizes quality of Internet and mobile phone services

Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in the October 11 meeting of the Cabinet, referred to the unsatisfactory quality of the Internet and mobile phone services provided by national telecoms carriers, IPN reports.

The Premier said the Internet and mobile phone coverage on the country’s territory is not stable and of a high quality and this is due to the carriers that obtained licenses from the state and to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), which is obliged to supervise and monitor the observance of the license conditions.

“I several times addressed the ANRCETI and requested explanations from it. The response I got says that working groups will be set up to examine the situation. They forgot that I was in charge of this sector during five years and know in detail what is going on there,” stated Pavel Filip.

According to the Premier, there are all the instruments needed to improve the quality of the Internet and mobile phone services and those in charge should combine forces and should immediately stop favoring particular carriers. “I urge those from the Agency to stand up and fulfill their obligations so that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova are sure that they benefit from high-quality services,” he stated.

Pavel Filip instructed the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure to propose violable solutions for the Internet and mobile coverage on the country’s territory to be in accordance with the license obtained by carriers and meets the expectations of the people who pay for these services.
