Prices of antiviral drugs inflated in drugstores
Dozens of drugstores in Moldova could be fined up to 10,000 lei or may remain without a license. Employees of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC) discover cases when the prices of antiviral drugs are by 25% higher every day, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“They increase mainly the prices of antiviral drugs. In some cases, the prices are exaggeratedly high. We identified cases when the prices in some of the drugstores were by 20-25% higher than in drugstores of the same district or the same area,” said Viorel Chetraru, the head of the CCCEC. According to Chetraru, irregularities of the kind during the last few days have been discovered in more than 30 drugstores.
“Such cases were identified mainly in small drugstores, not in chains, and especially in areas bordering Moldova and Ukraine,” Chetraru said.
The CCCEC identified irregularities at the Medication Agency as well. “The problems are different, but most of them concern the selection of drug suppliers, the illegal sale of drugs, the setting of the profit margin,” Viorel Chetraru said.
The official reminded that the CCCEC has a hotline that the people can use to report irregularities.
