Projects of €4.5m implemented during five years of crossborder cooperation
Twelve projects to the value of €4.5 million have been implemented in Moldova within the Romania—Ukraine-Moldova Crossborder Cooperation Program financed by the European Union. Most of them were environment-related, waste management, water supply and internal tourism promotion projects, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Valentina Plesca, the head of the Construction Ministry’s General Regional Development Division, told a news conference that a lot of work was done during five years, with Moldova benefiting from considerable support in solving the problems faced by the local authorities and civil society.
“The EU offered us the possibility of developing cooperation and good neighborhood relations. The experience of the constructive cooperation with the Romanian partners serves as a stimulus for achieving new objectives in the area,” said Valentina Plesca.
The official also said that projects to strengthen the economic, commercial, cultural, scientific and interhuman relations, to protect the environment and create communication and transport systems in the border regions have been successfully implemented within the EU-funded program.
”The experience accumulated as part of this program will stimulate participation in new crossborder cooperation programs financed in the framework of the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument within which Moldova achieved remarkable results,” said Valentina Plesca.
Dirk Lorenz, political officer of the European Union Delegation to Moldova, said that 16 years ago, the EU launched its first crossborder cooperation program, which covered the CIS countries.
The 12 projects in Moldova were implemented in Anenii Noi, Falesti, Straseni, Hancesti, Stefan Voda, Nisporeni, and Chisinau.
