Prosecutors investigate case of judge caught taking bribe

The prosecutors are examining the video showing a judge of the Economic Court of Appeals taking money from a person for favorably solving a case, Info-Prim Neo reports. The video was made public accompanied by an open letter signed by the head of Westhill Trading Limited Damian James Calderbank. The letter is addressed to the Head of Parliament Marian Lupu, Prime Minister designate Vlad Filat and media outlets. The letter says that judge Boris Barca received the money for loyalty and for extending the insolvency procedure for the company Ziarathana, which owes money to Westhill Trading Limited. The letter also says that the judge repeatedly suggested he intends to close the process, but may change his mind on certain conditions. In a communiqué, the Prosecutor General’s Office says the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office ordered an investigation into this case. Neither judge Boris Barca nor the Economic Court of Appeals made comments on this case.
