Prosecutors question personnel of restaurant where dozens of people poisoned themselves

The personnel of the restaurant where several dozen people poisoned themselves at a wedding party last week were questioned by prosecutors on September 10. The prosecution group of the Rascani Prosecutor’s Office confiscated from the restaurant recordings and documents from suppliers of food products, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office, another group of persons responsible for the incident will be questioned on September 11.

Meanwhile, the number of persons who suffered food provisioning at the wedding party rose to 47. Twenty-seven persons were hospitalized at the Ungheni District Hospital. The institutions’ vice director Maria Rotaru has told IPN that the state of the patients is stable.

The number of persons hospitalized at the Infectious Diseases Hospital “Toma Ciorba” in Chisinau increased from six to 14, said the institution’s head Victor Deatisen. Another 19 persons were examined by epidemiologists on September 9 and were given to receive treatment at home. Six persons were admitted to the hospital in Straseni.

The restaurant’s managers face a fine of 16,000 to 20,000 lei or up to three years behind bars. The legal entity is punished with a fine of 100,000 to 160,000 lei and banned from carrying out a particular activity for a period of up to three years. The legal entity may be also liquidated.
