The Government approved the framework regulations concerning the organization and functioning of the professional parent assistance service and the minimum quality standards for them. In the same meeting, it endorsed the minimum quality standards for the social service of support for families with children, which is a new social service provided at local level to strengthen the family’s capacity to bring up and educate children, IPN reports.
The given service has been piloted by the social partners during several years. By approving the minimum quality standards, the executive ensured the correlation of the national normative framework with the UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children.
Moldova is among the first counties in the region that is implementing the UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children, adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on the 20th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
In Moldova there are 261 professional parent assistants looking after 392 children.
