The damage caused by the rain was estimated at 680,000 lei. According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the rain destroyed roads and affected crops in a number of districts, IPN reports.

Over 15 km of roads were damaged by the rain in the districts of Telenesti, Stefan Voda and Criuleni.

Crops on an area of 141 hectares were affected in the municipality of Chisinau and the districts of Stefan Voda and Criuleni. About 200 fowls drowned in Festelita, Stefan Voda.

As a result of today’s rain, five homes were flooded in the districts of Causeni and Stefan Voda. Rescuers helped pump the water out.

The State Hydrometeorology Service issued a yellow code advisory for rain with thunder and lightning.
