The rain with hail that fell in the evening of May 21 caused damage in a number of settlements of Ungheni and Straseni districts and in Chisinau, IPN reports.

Contacted by IPN, Diana Turcan, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, said that the crops in four villages of Straseni district and in ten villages of Ungheni district were damaged. A road section of 350 square meters was flooded on Socoleni St in Chisinau. The damage is being estimated.

According to the latest information of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the rain with hail of May 20 destroyed over 100 hectares of sunflower, 50 hectares of sugar beet, 35 hectares f corn and 8 hectares of wheat in Pelinia village of Drochia district. In Miciurin village of the same district, there were damaged 48 hectares of sugar beet and 47 hectares of sunflower.
