Recidivist Ion Druta, who is known as ‘Pisateli’ (“Writer”), was arrested in the municipality of Chisinau on November 4 as a result of a special operation. He is investigated for sale of weapons, IPN reports.
Head of the General Police Inspectorate Ion Bodrug told the journalists that the police took steps after a TV feature this summer said the suspect was selling armament brought from Transnistria. The quantity, type of the arms and other details are yet to be determined.
Ion Bodrug noted that besides ‘Pisateli’, there was also arrested another person known in the criminal underworld, who is suspected of selling drugs. He refused to give names yet.
Ion Druta, alias ‘Pisateli’, was arrested by the police in July 2013. He was found guilty of involvement in a triple murder in 2000 and was sentenced to 20 years in jail by the Chisinau Appeals Court. In April 2014, he was set free in uncertain conditions.
