Registration of cars older than 7 years brings 25 million lei into state budget

Until October 31, the deadline for registering cars older than 7 years in Moldova, about 900 car owners did so, paying over 25 million lei in taxes. “The owners of cars who didn’t register and didn’t obtain Moldovan plates from the Registru enterprise until October 31 will have to remove the vehicles from the country or buy vignettes”, stated Minister of Finance Veaceslav Negruta, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The vignette, a tall for road use imposed on cars registered abroad, will be €2 for 7 days, €4 for 15 days, €7 for 30 days, €15 for 90 days and €25 for 180 days. The Minister said that drivers without a vignette will be stopped and fined by the traffic police. The fines vary between 2000 and 2600 lei. If the driver breaks the law again during the same calendar year the fine will rise to 6000 lei.
