The road section from the airport to Sangera commune hasn’t been yet asphalted. In August 2012, the Chisinau municipality promised that the road will be repaired in two months, but the road is covered only with a layer of gravel and the works to put a layer of asphalt on it haven’t been executed.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the municipal road maintenance company IM “Exdrupo” Efim Cheptanari said about 3 million lei is needed for the purpose, but they do not have such a sum. The money could be planned in the budget for next year.

Efim Cheptanari underlined that when money is allocated, there will be designated a contractor. The works will include the putting of a new layer of gravel, not of bitumen as they said in 2012.

Commenting on drivers’ concerns that the gravel can cause situations of accident, Efim Cheptanari said the gravel springs only during the first months after it is laid. In order to avoid situations of accident, the drivers are advised to reduce speed.
