Road transport operations between Moldova and Turkey liberalized

The Cabinet approved an amendment to the agreement on international road transport between the Republic of Moldova and Turkey of June 3, 1994. Under the amendment, the international freight transport operations between the two states in bilateral and transit regimes will no longer need transport authorizations, IPN reports.

Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Kiril Gaburici said the liberalization of transport both in bilateral regime and in transit regime with Turkey will allow to enhance the competitiveness of Moldovan road transport operators at regional level and will reduce the administrative burden, together with the operational costs. This will simplify transport operations.

In the November 21 meeting, the Cabinet also approved the agreement of cooperation in the fields of youth and sport with Turkey. The agreement is expected to step up the cooperation relations not only bilaterally, but also under the international arrangements to which Moldova and Turkey are a party.

The Cabinet’s decisions on the two documents will take effect after they are published in the Official Gazette.
