A man aged 44 from Chisinau was sentenced to six years and eight months in jail for robbery, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Last June, the man entered a jewelry shop, presenting himself as a police officer empowered to carry out a search. When asked by the administrator to present his permit, the man took out a pneumatic gun and fired several shots, threatening the sales clerks.
The man tied the hands of three employees. He wanted to steal golden items and money from the safe, but was hindered by clerks. He managed to run away with only 4,400 lei.
Later the man explained that he didn’t have a job and money for maintaining his family. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
