Romanian royal guests booed in Chisinau by Communist sympathizers

A group of Communist sympathizers barred the way of Princess Margareta and Prince Radu of Romania when they wanted to lay flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy in central Chisinau, IPN reports.

The representatives of the Royal House, who came to Chisinau on a visit, wanted to lay wreaths at the rulers’ monument as most of the officials visiting Moldova do, but eight Communist activists prevented them from doing so. They chanted: “Romanian Prince, you are a foreigner in Moldova”, “Long live the Moldovan Republic”, and “Go out of Moldova”.

However, the royal guests bowed down before the ruler and laid the flowers nearby.

Princess Margareta and Prince Radu of Romania are paying a four-day visit to Moldova. They will visit a number of Moldovan settlements until October 10.
