Russia provides aid worth US$1m to Moldova
A batch of humanitarian aid to the value of 29.4 million Russian rubles (the equivalent of US$1 million) will be brought to Chisinau from Moscow by an IL -76 plane of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations on September 3, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Russian Embassy in Moldova.
The communique says the batch weighing 20 tonnes contains transportable generators, tents, boats and rescuing equipment and is designed to contribute to the flood relief efforts.
“As in other cases of natural disasters that struck Moldova in 1990-2000, Russia provides assistance to the inhabitants of the flood-hit districts given the century-old relations of friendship that have connected our peoples since the time of Petru the First and Dimitrie Cantemir,” the Russian Embassy says in its communique.
The plane is to land at the Chisinau International Airport at 11.30. The donation will be handed over to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service in the presence of Russian Ambassador Valery Kuzmin. Prime Minister Vlad Filat is also expected to take part in the event.
