The salaries of some categories of archivists will be increased by 20% following a bill passed by Parliament in the second reading. Thus, 25 employees of Moldova’s central archives will get higher pays, IPN reports.

Under the bill, the 25 employees form part of technical personnel. They work as stock custodians, inspectors and restorers with salaries of 1,350-1,500 lei. According to the bill authors, the minimum consumer basket for a person in 2015 was 1,724 lei.

“The representatives of these categories of employees daily face very noxious factors that endanger their lives and health as hundreds of thousands of pages from files are affected by mycosis – a very aggressive pathogen that affects the respiratory system,” it is said in the bill’s informative note.
