Sanitary-veterinary certificates for temporary admission of registered horses

The participants in horse racing will have to possess sanitary-veterinary certificates showing that the horses are in a good state of health. The interim Cabinet approved the sanitary-veterinary norm concerning the health and certification requirements for the temporary admission of registered horses. According to acting Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ion Sula, the norm stipulates the models of certificates harmonized with the European directives, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the Ministry.

“By implementing the given norm, the competent authorities will offer guarantees about the state of health of registered horses, who are allowed to enter the country on a temporarily bases, by preventing infection in the period of stay,” said Ion Sula.

The existence of different categories of horses with own characteristics, the horses’ state of health and the unfavorable epizootic situation for transmitted diseases typical of horses require the classification of countries into a number of sanitary groups and setting of models of sanitary-veterinary certificates.

These certificates must accompany groups of mammals so that these are safely transported through the territory of another country. The competent authorities are obliged to confirm that the specific health requirements for the temporary admission of registered horses for participation in competitions, recreational activities, etc. are met.
