Searches at Common Monitoring Center of General Police Inspectorate

Anticorruption prosecutors and officers of the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service of the Ministry of the Interior on February 16 carried out searches at the Common Monitoring and Coordination Center of the General Police Inspectorate. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the searches formed part of the investigations conducted into two cases of passive corruption and abuse of power that involve public servants of the Center, IPN reports.

Thus, decision makers of the Center are suspected of favoring particular private individuals and legal entities by freeing them from paying fines and erasing about 2,300 penalty points for the violation of the Traffic Regulations in 2015 in exchange for sums of money.

It was estimated that damage of about 262,000 lei was caused to the state budget by the given illegalities.
