Besides sand and salt, workers of the General Public Amenities Division process the sidewalks and access ways to yards of apartment buildings also with antiskid liquid. The liquid cannot be spread everywhere because there are not enough vehicles. Specialists of the Division had to adjust some of the old vehicles.
The Division’s acting head Petru Gontea has told IPN that the antiskid liquid is considered ecological. When the snow melts, it does not leave sludge behind as it happens in the case of sand. However, the antiskid liquid must also be spread immediately after it snows as it does not have the same effect if the snow is treaded.
The antiskid liquid is applied with Hako vehicles and several other units of transport that were adjusted, but their number is insufficient. In parallel, sand and salt is spread on sidewalks and in yards. Petru Gontea said a larger quantity of ecological antiskid material will be brought for the next cold season.
He also said that the municipality in three-four years could fully switch over to antiskid liquid. However, the sand and salt in inaccessible areas will continue to be spread manually.
