The Soldanesti District Hospital was outfitted with medical equipment to the value of US$ 96,000. The money was provided in the form of a grant by the Government of Japan. The project was implemented within the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects “Kusanone”, IPN reports.
The grant was used to purchase 14 modern medical devices, including an ultrasound scanner. The purchase of the medical equipment will diversify the range of medical services accessible to the inhabitants of Soldanesti district and will improve their quality, said the Hospital’s administration. It is estimated that 51,000 persons will annually benefit from diagnosis and treatment at the Soldanesti District Hospital.
On September 28, Japan’s Ambassador to Moldova Masanobu Yoshii will visit the Soldanesti District Hospital to inspect the results of the project.
The Program “Kusanone” was launched in Moldova in 2008. A number of 38 projects were financed as part of it during 2008-2016. Over US$ 3.3 million worth of grant funding has been provided so far. Grant contracts to the value of US$ 400,000 were signed with six beneficiaries within the program this March. New equipment was purchased for a number of health facilities. Also, a heating system will be built at “Tudor Zanet” Lyceum of Congaz, while the sewerage system in Ghidighici village will be extended.
