Some of Moldovans take antipyretics before crossing border

Before getting onto the plane or crossing Moldova’s borders by road, some of the Moldovans take antipyretics to hide the fact that they have high fever. “By such actions, they directly affect those around and can later affect also the healthcare system and such situations are met frequently,” Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu was quoted by IPN as saying after the April 2 meeting of the National Focal Point.

National Public Health Agency director Nicolae Furtună expressed his regret at the fact that some of those who had been in contact with persons with COVID-19 hide this fact and consequently infect doctors and other persons around them. “We need this information so as to take prompt measures and isolate the person early so that we do not suffocate the health system,” he stated, calling on the people to be sincere and to help contain the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Of the 423 persons diagnosed with COVID-19 in Moldova, 65 are in a serious state. Five infected persons have died.

Of all the cases of infection, 170 were recorded in the municipality of Chisinau, 50 in Ștefan Vodă and 41 in Soroca.
